Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. If I really love being busy and going fast, doing several things at once then why is slowing down so important?
A. Loving being busy is fantastic, going fast can also be great, even doing several things seemingly at once can allow you to almost loose yourself which can be exhilarating. BUT NOT ALL THE TIME! Sometimes it's important to slow the engine down, to rest the body and calm the mind. MMP gives you some micro skills to practice this just for a couple of minutes each day. The more regularly you practice the easier it is to slow down.
Q2. Why can't I seem to slow down? I just want to do things, it's so boring slowing down that's why I don't.
A. We live in a fast paced world, lots going on all the time, it's 24/7 and go, go, go, interconnected, technology rapidly changing, developing, always growing in its complexity which can be quite mind boggling. But the mind just loves it. HOWEVER IT CAN ALSO BE EXHAUSTING! MMP gives you some micro skills to regenerate just for a couple of minutes each day.
Q3. If meditation is so great how come most people don't?
A. Good question! This requires a longish answer but if you even read through some of the blog posts that may help. However the one universal that we all face is usually being " time poor". Now meditation is about being present right now and in the moment which is so difficult that we generally try again to be busy, doing things. This solves the problem of 'being' which is what meditation is about. But it's temporary. Even when doing things part of our mind may be thinking about something else, being somewhere else, doing something else, something better, more meaningful, enjoyable, perhaps with someone else. It never stops, continual movement, continual presentations, for some continual noise. I've heard the mind referred to as "the random thought generator", "the noisy engine room", " the thunder dungeon", " the presentation theatre", and even "the first house of fast". Most people don't meditate because it's simply foreign and goes against what the mind wants. But it's been around for millennia. Because we're usually time poor the thought of meditating seems like simply wasting a precious resource, time. However MMP gives you some micro skills to meditate just for a couple of minutes each day. You decide on the value, after a few weeks you may be pleasantly surprised.
Q4. I often get upset and angry with the fact that things never ever go the way they should, there's always something wrong. Is there something wrong with me?
A. Absolutely nothing wrong with you in fact it's very common that things don't always go the to plan. Some would say totally normal. Maybe it's more about your mind, NOT YOU! Because you are not just your mind! The mind may need some training. At MMP we give you some contained, structured micro skills to concentrate just for a couple of minutes each day, to reduce anger, to reduce what's wrong and increasingly over time to appreciate what's right with you.
